- Born: 3 May 1796, Tisbury, Martha's Vineyard, Dukes, Massachusetts
- Marriage: Deborah W. Norton
- Died: 23 Oct 1872, New Vineyard, Franklin, Maine at age 76
His son's death certificate says both son and father were born in Martha's Vineyard, when every other document says son was born in New Vineyard, Maine, and 1870 census says William Farrand was born in Maine. Son was born a year after Maine became a state and no longer part of Massachusetts. Otherwise whoever provided the information for son's death certificate must have had a senile moment.
On the other hand, his wife's parents seem to have lived all of their lives on an island near Cape Cod, raising how he could have met his wife in central Maine, which is consistent with the idea that he was born on Martha's Vineyard. I also don't know how the hamlet where he lived as an adult got to be called New Vineyard.
Tisbury and Dukes County are both the names of the same island near Cape Cod. Jael Manchester was born there.
William married Deborah W. Norton, daughter of Isaac Norton Jr and Deborah Norton. (Deborah W. Norton was born in 1800 in Massachusetts and died on 23 Feb 1873.)
